From Martin Margiela’s brief period as creative director of luxury fashion house Hermès, which lasted from 1997 to 2003. For his final collection for Hermès, Margiela debuted a range of items bearing the “Cheval Surprise” print, named after its intricately hidden placement of horse drawn carriages in a paint splatter. The print has become one of the most recognizable elements of Margiela’s work at Hermès, as featured in this short sleeve top.
